Bapta Revival Project

'Bapta Revival Project' is our effort towards reviving Patta Bapta sarees, which are a unique combination of cotton and mulberry silk yarns with traditional temple borders (Phoda Kumbha - woven by two weavers) and sambalpuri ikat aanchal. They are the easiest and super comfortable to wear for longer durations. It's hard to find authentic 'Patta-Bapta' sarees these days. The saree was on the verge of extinction as hardly two weavers' families were left doing this regularly. We spent a lot of time not only on research to revive this age-old saree with contemporary designs in terms of motifs and textures, but also to persuade the talented weavers to work on it regularly to bring it back in demand. The whole experience has been challenging yet exciting.
